What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a profession that specializes in the evaluation and treatment of diagnoses that limit physical function.  Physical therapy might be needed any time a problem with a child’s movement is limiting his/her ability to perform daily activities.  The pediatric physical therapists here at Pediatrics Plus specialize in developing or restoring a child’s ability to perform movements like rolling, crawling, walking, running, and jumping, also known as gross motor movements.  We begin this process with a comprehensive evaluation.

What's The Plus of Physical Therapy?

Therapy Interventions

Our therapists provide a comprehensive evaluation to examine key components of movement including: strength, range of motion, flexibility, balance, posture, body mechanics, coordination, and endurance.  We combine our thorough observation and standardized assessment of a child’s current abilities with the parents’ concerns and goals for their child to develop a personalized physical therapy plan to address the child’s individual needs.  Our knowledgeable and skilled therapists will implement each plan with selected interventions that may include but are not limited to the following treatment techniques:

  • Gross motor skill development
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Strengthening programs
  • Aquatics
  • LiteGait Training/ Body Weight Supported Treadmill Training
  • Kinesiotaping
  • Selection and implementation of appropriate orthoses/bracing
  • Selection and implementation of appropriate mobility equipment
  • Infant massage
  • Serial casting
  • F.I.T. Kids + (Functional Interval Training)
  • Orthopedic rehabilitation and return to play programming
  • Neurodevelopmental facilitation

Pediatrics Plus strives to educate and train our therapists in innovative, evidence-based treatment strategies that will propel your child to achieve his/her full potential.  Our team of physical therapists has individuals with significant post-graduate training in the above-mentioned areas to ensure that your child’s therapeutic services are performed with excellence.  In addition, we have therapists who are Certified Kinesiotaping Practitioners, Strength and Conditioning Specialists, and Mobility Research Trainers.

The staff and therapists are all so caring and helpful.
