Milestone Moments: 2 Years Old

Welcome to the 2 year mark with your toddler. While some might call this phase the "Terrible Twos," we prefer to look at it as "Terrific Twos" since there are so many milestones your little one gets to conquer this year! Here is a list of some of those milestones so you know what to look for during the next 12 months.

 

• Kicks a ball
• Steers a push toy
• Climbs up and down objects/stairs or walks up and down stairs using railing or parent
• Jumps downfrom small step
• Walks on tiptoes
• Runs
• Throws a ball overhead
• Catches a ball with trapping
• Makes or copies straight lines
• Builds a tower of more than eight blocks
• May use one hand over the other
• May develop food preferences
• Pulls on simple garments
• Points to/identifies pictures when they are named
• Uses sentences of 2 to 4 words
• Knows names of familiar people and body parts
• Finds things even when hidden under two or three covers
• Begins to sort shapes and colors
