In The News

Answering the strong demand for services for children with special needs and following the announcement Ascent Children’s Health Services would be ceasing operations, Pediatrics Plus announced today it has been granted a license by the Arkansas Department of Human Services to begin providing services to children in Clark County and the surrounding areas.

Pediatrics Plus will begin providing services on Monday, October 29 at Park Hill Baptist Church at 3163 Hollywood Rd in Arkadelphia. Park Hill Baptist will serve as the initial service location while a new facility is constructed. The location will serve children who qualify for Developmental Preschool, nursing services, and Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Language Therapy, both as part of the preschool and on an outpatient basis.

“We are excited about Pediatrics Plus becoming a part of the Arkadelphia community,” owner Todd Denton said. “The services we provide in our Central Arkansas and Frisco, Texas locations will now be accessible to children throughout the southwest corner of our state. With its geographic location, our Arkadelphia clinic will provide us an opportunity to reach areas that have traditionally been underserved or have lacked access to consistent, high-quality therapy services.”

The new clinic will create up to 40 new jobs, including preschool and therapy administrative staff; registered nurse; food program administrator; teachers; developmental, occupational and physical therapists; and speech language pathologists. The Arkadelphia clinic will bring Pediatrics Plus’ total employment to approximately 600.

Denton, who grew up near Sparkman and is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, is excited about the opportunity to open a clinic in a community he considers home.

“Having grown up just twelve miles from Arkadelphia and as a graduate of Ouachita this location is especially exciting for me personally,” Denton said. “We’ve been working on a substantial partnership arrangement with Ouachita over the last six months, so the timing of this couldn’t be better. We could not be more excited to come back home and contribute to the Arkadelphia community.”

Pediatrics Plus has plans to build upon its existing partnerships with Ouachita and forge new ones with Henderson State University. The support of the greater Arkadelphia community helped the clinic go from a dream to a reality within thirty days.

“This new location would not have been possible without DHS, the city of Arkadelphia, the Chamber, Ouachita and Park Hill Baptist Church,” Denton said. “These leaders put considerable time into getting a new site ready in a matter of weeks so children would not lose the services they need. Over the last thirty days, we’ve had so many people from Arkadelphia call and say ‘what do you need, how can I help?’ This community has energetic, driven and progressive leadership that makes things happen. If other businesses experience what we did, Arkadelphia has a very bright future ahead.”
